NPM Packages
ASP.NET Zero solution uses pnpm (preferred) to obtain front end library dependencies (like Angular and Bootstrap). NPM is also supported. We suggest using pnpm because it is fast, disk-efficient, and deterministic. The pinned pnpm version is declared in package.json under the packageManager field, so pnpm 10+ (or Corepack, if you run corepack enable) activates the correct version automatically. You can easily add, update or remove packages on pnpm's command line interface.
pnpm 10 or newer is required. pnpm-specific settings (such as shamefullyHoist) are kept in the pnpm-workspace.yaml file next to package.json, because pnpm 11 only reads authentication and registry settings from .npmrc. If you need to change a pnpm setting, edit pnpm-workspace.yaml; see pnpm settings for the available options.
